SUPPORT THE PEOPLE OF ANYAKO/KONU TOWN
IN  VOLTA REGION OF GHANA

Anyako is a small island, perhaps a peninsula, within the Keta lagoon. .. It is believed that the island was first inhabited by two brothers. The first brother Kpebiseyisu settled on the end of the island and called it Konu (Ekpoanu) meaning, the end of the island. His younger brother Anya settled in the middle of the island and named it Anyako - after himself. Anyako-Konu is basically a twin town

OUR MISSION:  Anyako Konu Town Association - aka TARSOGroup is a relief organization founded to help citizens of Anyako-Konu in the Volta Region of Ghana. A forum (TarsoGroup@yahoogroups.com) ; is designed to facilitate and encourage discussions among the citizens, friends, sympathizers, and well wishers in order to determine ways and means to foster development of Anyako-Konu. Our organization is currently focused on transforming Anyako-Konu from a very poor and under-developed status into a self-sustaining township with basic amenities such as: the provision of clean drinking water for all, the establishment of a vocational centre to provide skill training, the creation of jobs, the provision of electricity and affordable communication facilities, a well-equipped medical centre and a science learning facility at the town High School.

Water Restoration Project

We firmly believe that lack of pipe borne water, sanitation, and education are the prime causes of the slow development rate in most of the underdeveloped nations. Every year, our organization provides financial support to purchase various itemsto promote a healthy upkeep of the town folks. This year, we want to take up the restoration of a very good and reliable clean water system in the form of Boreholes in the town or by connecting water from nearest towns to alleviate the fifteen years of acute water shortage. After many visits to the Ghana Government Water Company, the government officials suggested that we wait for a Government Water project in the making. Recently the Government said a Technical Agreement was signed but they are now waiting for the signing of the Financial Agreement. How long must we wait? The Chairman of the Water Works in Ghana is of the view that tapping water from Agodome - a location of about 30 miles from Anyako - will be too expensive for the citizens of the town to bear, but few citizens at home and abroad are with the view that we can tap this water to Anyako Konu if we sought the help of the various towns along the route: such as Atiavi, Tsiame/Asadame and Seva and the help of you or Sympathizers. That is why we are proposing to start mobilizing funds towards the project so that when the need arises we are not found wanting.

GET INVOLVED: Over the years, Anyako- Konu Association Inc continues to strive to expand its programs and offerings to the community. We hope that you will be able to take part in this unique water project we are offering this year and we also want you to experience firsthand the pride we take in supporting our cause. It is our mission to restore clean drinking water to the town, which they have not had since the late 90s. In order to achieve this goal, we need to rely on the generosity of businesses and individuals like you. Without the assistance of community-minded individuals just like you, we will not be able to bring clean water into the deprived and under served community of Anyako Konu.

DONATE: We need your help! Please donate to restore good drinking water to Anyako Konu. Currently, the town has been over burdened with many issues. Life has been difficult for the town folks and citizens are having hard time surviving the current economic front. The fishing industry is dying slowly due to the lack of water in the lagoon. This condition has increased thier sufferings. As a result the town council is unable to levy the citizenry of the town in order to maintain the infrastructure of the town. We need your donations to help. These funds will be used to underwrite the infracture of the town the first of which will be the Water restoration.
